Our First Slumber Party
B had her 9th birthday at the end of the month, and we had a party for her last Friday. It was a slumber party for the first time. She invited 4 girls and 3 could come, so it turned out to be a great little party! B wanted to have a "Spa Slumber Party," with a foot whirpool and lotions and things. She wanted to have baked potatoes for dinner, cookie cake, pancakes for breakfast, and buttery popcorn. Her wish was my command.
This was my favorite picture from the party. I said, "Hey! Let's get a picture with the presents and the girls." So they're lining up and I joked that little L should do the splits in the front. She said, "Okay!" She had to hold there a long time while I got the rest of them lined up!
They were talking about American Girl dolls, and got out the catalog together to look at what they might like to have. L had brought her American Girl doll to the party.
B decided to give out door prizes---stuff from her room! She drew out their names and gave away little trinkets. This was just an idea she had that evening.
Here's the baked potato dinner. The girls are topping the spuds. :-)
I made the cookie cake and then they decorated their own piece with lots of frosting and icing and sprinkles.
Happy Birthday, B!
Then they did the foot whirlpool. It was very relaxing. :-)
They watched "Sky High" on the Disney Channel. They also all got out paper and drew pictures.

What a great party. So nice to see parents getting involved in their kids parties, designing activities, encouraging initiative....rather than leaving the whole thing to MacDonalds or the Bowling Alley. (Flaming Sword Award to you!!!) Mind you, four is an ideal number!! I made the mistake of doing massive parties in the Baby Angel's first five years. I felt like I was back at school!! They did turn out well and I found getting them to do all the creative things was always a good idea. Great shoot and a party which will be fondly remembered for years I suspect!

I loved slumber parties! It looks like the girls had a fantastic time, and B is learning some great hostess tips. :)
It's so funny that the first thing my eye went to was that "Black Cat". I work at Hallmark, and those things are the bane of our existince! :) Is this B's first?
