It was probably a James Mitchner book---I read Hawaii a long time ago. More recently, it would be the last Harry Potter book.

Yes, yellow is an Eastery color! I'm actually kind of surprised I didn't think of that. Last year my daughter was just 11 days old at Easter and she wore a preemie sized fancy yellow dress! It was adorable!
